Volunteering at Markham Stouffville Hospital
The Summer Student Volunteer Program for 2010 is now FULL. Applications received effective April 9th, 2010 will be kept on file for our 2011 summer program. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Markham Stouffville Hospital has a rich history of community support and involvement. From helping to fundraise the initial $5.0 million capital campaign in six short months to over 700 volunteers on hand at Hospital opening, volunteers bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to the Hospital community.
Volunteers are an integral part of the Hospital health team. They are an extension of our staff, and assist staff in providing safe, high quality health care to our patients and their families. They provide clerical assistance, patient support, excellent customer service, and/or become involved in fundraising activities.
The Community Resources Department consists of the following:
- Adult Program
- Student Program
- Co-operative Education Program (High School) - in partnership with the York Region District School Board
Every year, our volunteers devote more than 50,000 hours to 40 different areas throughout the hospital, sharing their talents and skills to help “Make it Great” for our patients and visitors.
Volunteers represent the multi-cultural mosaic of our community and they are intricately woven in the fabric of the Markham Stouffville Hospital culture.
